Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) Workshop 1 of 3 - " How Did We Get Here?"

The SheCAN! Diverse-Is-She Team, together with Bank of America / Merrill Lynch are proud to present a 3 Part Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) Workshop to provide interesting, engaging and relevant education, perspective, discussion, and training. 

All workshops include historical and present day perspectives, as well as analogies, exercises, and challenges that are designed to push back against negative thinking and create a more empathetic mindset.

NOTE: You must register for each workshop separately.

JEDI Workshop 1 " How Did We Get Here?"
Date: Tuesday, April 20, 2021
Time: 6pm - 7pm via Zoom

Through analogies and historical accounts, participants will gain an understanding of Black America - from slavery to the Jim Crow era, the Civil Rights movement to present day. This will be an engaging and thought-provoking discussion about what Black Lives Matter really means, and will examine the difference between Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
Participants will gain a greater knowledge of cultural history and begin to understand the mindsets of POC, resulting in a more compassionate and empathetic relationship with diverse groups and individuals. 

JEDI Workshop 2: "Self-Assessment & How to Be Part of the Solution in 5 Easy Steps"
Date: Tuesday,May 18th, 2021
Time: 6pm - 7pm via Zoom 

In this workshop participants will engage in a customized self-assessment to uncover any unconscious biases, negative preconceptions or stereotypes they may hold. Using See Us Differently™ exercises and analogies, this workshop covers strategies on how to set aside preconceptions and stereotypes, and change your views of POC. What does it really mean to give someone the benefit of the doubt?
Includes screening and discussion of "Have You Seen My Son?"
Through a confidential assessment, participants will discover any unconscious biases, preconceptions, and stereotypical views they may unknowingly hold and will be given the tools to start challenging those damaging beliefs. 

JEDI Workshop 3: "Navigating Difficult Conversations about Race" 

Date: Tuesday, June 15, 2021 
Time: 6pm - 7pm via Zoom 

In this workshop participants will explore how to respond in difficult situations. When do you push back? When do you remain silent? Do you stand up for the person being victimized even when they’re not in the room? What if your opinion is not popular or accepted? 
Through interactive, customized scenarios, participants will gain hands-on experience and expertise in navigating difficult conversations. Participants will receive hands on training giving them the tools they need to navigate conversational landmines.
