The word "Chakra" comes from the Sanskrit, meaning " wheel" or "disc". Our chakras are meta-physical vortices of energy through which we receive, transmit and process our universal life-force energy. Chakras symbolize the connection betweeen the spiritual and the physical, and coincide with the body's endocrine system. When all chakras are aligned and tuned, energy flows freely and our bodies are in balance and functioning perfectly. When unbalanced, dysfunctional or " blocked", a whole range of mental, emotional and physiological conditions can manifest themselves . In Ayurveda, the Chakras are depicted as seven energetic centers in our bodies, flowing from the base of the spinal cord to the crown of the head. An awareness of the chakra system can start you on a path of self-discovery, and ignite your interest in self-study and personal growth, becoming yet another path to deeper self-knowledge.
Take with you from this discussion a simple understanding of the chakra system and a desire to harness the body’s own subtle energies to increase your health and wellbeing.
Kim Kemsley, Owner of Self-Crafted Wellness is presently working as a health and wellness coach - meeting clients where they are and sharing tools for a better life, to help them feel their best and achieve optimal health! She is currently instructing gentle flow and restorative yoga - meeting yogi’s where they are and how to practice making the body/mind connection.
